Aldi‘s ready-made meals launch marks the grocery chain’s first foray into the refrigerated meal collection category, with seven options rolling out in select US markets this October. Single-serve meals are priced under $8 and deliver between 30 and 46 grams of protein per portion, while family-sized options, each yielding four servings at 16 to 22 grams of protein per serving, are priced under $15.
What’s in the Aldi Ready-Made Meals Launch Lineup
The initial seven meals span a broad range of cuisines. The single-serve options include Butter Chicken and Rice, Beef Bolognese Spaghetti, Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Burrito Bowl, and Beef Brisket with White Mac and Cheese. The family-size offerings are Chicken and Bacon Mac n’ Cheese and Meat Lovers Pizza Bake.
Single-serve portions take only a couple of minutes in the microwave, while the family meals go straight into the oven for around 40 minutes. The meals will be stocked in the refrigerated section near the front entrance of each participating store.
Aldi attributes the quality to a strict commitment to fresh, never-frozen ingredients throughout the cooking process. That approach is reflected in the taste: a reviewer who sampled the Butter Chicken and Rice and the Beef Bolognese Spaghetti ahead of launch found both compared favourably to restaurant and takeaway equivalents.
According to PR Newswire, new meals will hit Aldi Finds shelves every month throughout the next year, meaning the collection is designed to grow well beyond its initial seven options.
The Supplier Behind the Collection, and a Proven Model
The meals are produced by Kitchen Food Company, Aldi’s supplier for the range. Terry Jackson, head of food at Kitchen Food Company, said the development process was rigorous. ‘We tested hundreds of recipes as we developed this collection, with quality as our top standard from the very beginning,’ Jackson said.
Jackson brings relevant precedent to the project. According to USA Today, he has seen firsthand a similar collection of ready-made meals launched at Aldi in Australia, giving the Kitchen Food Company team a working reference point for what the format can achieve at scale in a discount grocery environment.
Joan Kavanaugh, vice president of national buying at Aldi U.S., is also involved in bringing the collection to American shelves, USA Today reported. The rollout begins in select markets this October before expanding throughout autumn, with full nationwide availability expected by January 2027.
Convenience as the Commercial Driver
The timing of the launch reflects a broader shift in how American consumers approach meal decisions. A study cited by WDTN found that 61% of Americans factor convenience into their purchasing decisions, a figure that helps explain why the refrigerated ready-meal category has attracted growing attention from major grocery operators.
Aldi’s position in that market is built on price as much as ease. The chain has long cultivated a loyal customer base through its low-cost model and its rotating Aldi Finds selection, and the ready-made meals are priced to sit comfortably within that value framework. At under $8 for a single-serve portion with more than 30 grams of protein, the range sits well below the cost of a comparable takeaway order in most US cities.
The family-size meals reinforce that logic further. Four servings of Chicken and Bacon Mac n’ Cheese or Meat Lovers Pizza Bake for less than $15 positions Aldi squarely against both supermarket own-brand competitors and fast-food alternatives, at a price point that undercuts both in most scenarios.
With monthly additions planned across the next year and a nationwide rollout target of January 2027, the collection is positioned as a permanent, evolving fixture rather than a seasonal promotion. Shoppers in markets where the meals are not yet available can expect access to expand as autumn progresses.
